Cannes Lions publishes agenda for the second edition of LIONS Live
Cannes Lions has today published the agenda for the second edition of LIONS Live taking place from 19-23 October. Throughout the week, practical advice and insight on how to make exceptional creative work will be delivered by renowned creatives and marketers; designed to help impact careers, transform business and drive progress through creativity.
Charlotte Williams, VP of Content, Cannes Lions, said: LIONS Live 2 is about taking inspiration to application. Every session on the five-day agenda has been curated to ensure it delivers the pragmatic programme that our community has asked for. As part of it we’ve brought together some of the greatest creative teams to give an honest ‘behind the scenes’ of their iconic Lion-winning work. We’re basically going to travel the world through the work with case studies from Berlin, Dubai, Stockholm, Shanghai, Tel Aviv, São Paulo, New York, Copenhagen and Warsaw – the teams will be revealing some trade secrets along the way too, which will make for some fascinating insight.
In the new content format, ‘Behind the Scenes’, the team behind DDB Berlin’s “The Uncensored Playlist” will explain how they made work that felt like a heist. Giving a teaser, Patrik Lenhart, Creative Director, DDB Group Germany, said they would reveal how “secret messaging and music producers disguised as tourists led to one of the best music streaming campaigns, that the music streaming platforms had never heard of.” Other pieces of work covered will include Droga5 and NY Times on how “The Truth is Worth it” pushed creative boundaries and drove digital subscriptions, and won both the Film and Film Craft Grand Prix for the first time ever; as well as Poland’s first ever Grand Prix for “The Last Ever Issue” which was brought to life through unprecedented collaboration.
In a new series of ‘What I’ve Learnt’ Kate Stanners, Chairwoman and Global Chief Creative Officer of Saatchi & Saatchi, will walk us through the brilliant anecdotes, stories and moments that make up her incredible career journey to date. Viewers will also get a creative career masterclass from Marcello Serpa, Latin America’s first-ever Grand Prix winner, who has served on Lions juries four times, twice as president, and was the 2016 Lion of St. Mark.
Returning to the agenda, ‘CMOs in the Spotlight’ will dissect how some of the world’s most influential brands are tackling the here and now. CMOs include Levi Strauss & Co.’s Jennifer Sey, Deloitte’s Suzanne Kounkel and PepsiCo’s Greg Lyons.
Elsewhere on the programme, expert James Hurman will share his latest installment of “The Effectiveness Code” series on how creative commitment isn’t all about big budgets; Susan Credle, Global Chief Creative Officer, FCB Global, shares her tips on how to foster and drive a culture of creativity; Mindscapes founder Yonathan Dominitz will give the creative thinking patterns behind the most awarded creative ideas and explain how they can be applied on a daily basis; while Philip Thomas, Chairman of Cannes Lions, will host a debate on “Creative Leadership Now” with best-in-class leaders from VMLY&R, McCann, Edelman and Facebook.
Each day will conclude with an expert “how to” guide from creative stalwarts, provocateurs and agitators who will provide a breakdown of the day’s learning into practical next steps. Experts confirmed include Ana Andjelic, Jonathan Mildenhall and Anselmo Ramos.
LIONS Live 2 is available to everyone, everywhere, for free. The programme will be broadcast live from the London studio and anchored by BBC journalist Tina Daheley.
