El Festival Internacional de Creatividad Cannes Lions es un evento que galardona los mejores trabajos en materia de publicidad y áreas afines de todo el mundo. Este evento es celebrado anualmente en el Palacio de Festivales y de Congresos en Cannes, Francia. Recientemente el evento es llamado como el festival más importante del mundo de la publicidad, donde congrega alrededor de 11 mil personas, año tras año, diferentes mentes creativas con la finalidad de asistir a seminarios, talleres y clases magistrales. Durante el evento se muestran miles de anuncios publicitarios evaluados por creativos de todo el mundo. Para el año 2012, el festival contó con la participación de 34,301 de piezas, después de un declive que fue la secuela de la crisis económica mundial. El Festival Cannes Lions encontró su inspiración en el Festival Internacional de Cine, que se lleva a cabo en Cannes, Francia desde la década de 1940. Fue por eso que un grupo de publicistas decidieron llevar a cabo un evento que premiara lo mejor en cuanto a creatividad publicitaria se refiere. En cuanto al equipo de jurados, estos provienen de diferentes campos de la industria publicitaria de todo el mundo. Cada jurado cuenta con un presidente y todos juzgan las diferentes categorías como son: Cine, Film Craft, Media, Press, Outdoor, Cibernético, Promoción y Activación, Directo, Diseño, Radio, Mobile, Branded Content y Entertainment, PR, Eficacia Creativa y Titanium e Integrated. Además se incluyen otros premios como son Holding Company of the Year, Red del Año, Agencia Directa del Año, Agencia de Medios del Año, Agencia del Año, Agencia Independiente del Año, Medios Persona del Año, El Anunciante del Año y la Palma de Oro d’Or a la mejor empresa de producción.
